Symptom:

Customer has an external LDAP on OS X Server 10.4 the Open-E can't seem to use this LDAP server.

Problem:

Customer has an external LDAP on OS X Server 10.4. The Open-E can't seem to use this LDAP server. All other systems, including OpsnSuse 11.0, Windows  2000/XP, and OS X 10.4/10.5 can use authienticate against this LDAP server without problem.

Solution:

The reason is that OpenDirectory uses Samba v2 scheme, which is no longer supported by Open-E systems (it is supported in old NAS Enterprise). Mac OSX is using as default OpenDirectory.

Open-E systems supports only LDAP domain compatible with Samba v3 scheme.
