iSCSI Failover Primary server drops connection when secondary server goes down

Article ID: 292
Last updated: 29 Apr, 2009

Symptom:

If in the event two DSS servers are configured in a iSCSI Failover (HA cluster) and SECONDARY server goes down (logically or physically) the PRIMARY server drops the clients connections to the iSCSI Target LUNs. This issue happens rarely and  mostly happens when network is experiencing a high overload.

Problem:

Not fully researched - probably problem with hardware delays.

Solution:

Not fully researched - in some cases reconfiguring network so replication will go on other NIC via a bond.

Manually reconnection also solves this issue.

Open-E software impacted:

Up from DSS up49.
