Why my Volume replication or Failover doesn't work in case of NIS authentication?

Article ID: 492
Last updated: 12 Aug, 2009

Symptom:

When DSS is connected to NIS server the volume replication fails to configure and start. While configuring the replication the destination volumes are not listed on the GUI.

Problem:

Problem is related to NIS users - some system users can be doubled or replaced by users distributed by NIS. The NIS should deliver only users above 100UID and groups above 100GID.

Solution:

The NIS need to be reconfigred so it won't contain users and groups bellow 101.

Open-E software impacted:

All DSS versions.
