Question:
NAS share has become too small, currently it has 15TB, needs to be expanded to 25TB.
Customer has 59TB of available / unused space.
Is it possible to increase a volume during operation?
Or does a new volume have to be created and share assigned to it?
Answer:
There is no need for creating new volume. Following procedure explains how to expand a volume when there is a Volume Replicated task assigned to the NFS Logical Volume:
a. Un-mount NFS clients
b. Go-to tasks status and make sure both source and destination show “consistent”
c. Stop volume replication task
d. Delete Volume replication task
e. Disable volume replication in action menu (on both sides)
f. Expand the lv on both sides with enable volume replication option
g. Re-create volume replication task
h. Start the task ( it will mirror all volume capacity new from scratch)
Note: same procedure applies to iSCSI volumes, except point "a)".
