How to add second Areca RAID array to existing DSS V6 configuration and establish the connection to iSCSI target from Windows 2008 Server R2

  1. Log on to DSS WebGUI
  2. Go to SETUP → H/W RAID
  3. Choose your Areca controller and press Areca button

  1. Areca Management should open in a new window
  2. Go to Create RAID Set

  1. Choose available disks to create RAID Set
  2. Select Confirm The Operation and press Submit

  1. Go to create Volume Set
  2. Choose your RAID Set created before
  3. Press Submit
  1. Please apply RAID settings
  2. Select Confirm The Operation and press Submit

  1. Go to DSS WebGUI
  2. Go to CONFIGURATION → volume manager → Vol. groups
  3. If you cannot see new unit press rescan
  4. Choose available unit, choose appropriate action (new volume group, add to ...) and press apply

  1. Press on the newly created volume group name on the left side of the screen
  2. Choose new iSCSI volume action from the drop down menu
  3. Choose Create new target automatically option
  4. Set iSCSI volume type (File I/O, Block I/O)
  5. Enter the size of iSCSI volume and press apply
  1. Press OK
  1. Go to Windows iSCSI Initiator on the host machine and type DSS IP address in Target field
  2. Press Connect

  1. Go to Windows Server Manager → Disk Management to create appropriate file system
  1. Done.
