Free space/connection problem on storages over 4TB and MAC OSX connected over SMB protocol

Symptom:

The MAC OSX sees completely wrong free space or zero free space when connected to DSS (32bit kernel) with a big LV using the SMB protocol.

The MAC OSX reports a connection error when connecting to DSS (64bit kernel) with a big LV using the SMB protocol.

Problem:

The MAC OSX SMB client cannot handle large values returned by DSS and the data size gets out of range and becomes corrupted.

Solution:

Use the AFP protocol instead of SMB for connecting to the DSS.

Additional information:

This problem also occurred on Windows systems connected to DSS using the 64bit Kernel.   The problem has been resolved from DSS version 5.0 42 Build 3007 and up.
