What are the requirements of volume replication?

Article ID: 16
Last updated: 12 Aug, 2008

For volume replication, you need a source, which is the share on an LV you wish to replicate, and you need a destination, which is a share in which you want the replicated data to be stored.  In order for your replication task to work, your source Logical Volume and your destination Logical Volume must be exactly the same size.

If you wish to use Volume replication on a Logical Volume, you must check the 'Use Volume replication' box in your Volume Manager window at the time you create the volume.  Replication cannot be implemented on a volume after it is already created.
