Using a SATA-DOM as a Boot Media for JovianDSS

Article ID: 2621
Last updated: 17 Feb, 2015

The JovianDSS OS is writing LOGs, temp and or configuration files on the boot media.
The average constant write speed is about 7.4 kB/sec (0.0074 MB/sec) .
In 5 years the results would be about 1 TBW. (TB written)

So a good quality SATA DOMs will provide enough write endurance:

Example from Supermicro:
http://www.supermicro.com/products/nfo/SATADOM.cfm
16GB with endurance 17TBW
32GB with endurance 34TBW
64GB with endurance 68TBW

Or from MX-Technology:
Mach Xtreme 16GB SATA DOM SSD, SLC, 7-PIN

Or from Fujitsu:
Fujitsu SATA DOM Solid-State-Disk 32GB or 64GB
