Joining an Open-E server to a Windows Server 2003 domain in mixed mode fails

Article ID: 482
Last updated: 17 Jul, 2009

Symptom:

Connecting an Open-E server to a WS2003 domain in mixed mode works with the PDC authentication mode, but no users or groups are visible in the Open-E WebGUI. When connecting using the ADS authentication mode, the error Database empty or connection error is received.

Problem:

NT4 emulation is preventing the Open-E server from receiving the NetLogon attribute.

Solution:

The registry key NT4Emulator on the domain controller needs to be set to 0.

Open-E software impacted:

NAS-R3 and DSS (all versions)
